High
Point Award Program
One of the benefits of KASPHA membership is the High Point Award Program, which recognizes outstanding horses based on points accumulated in designated classes at KASPHA shows. At the end of each year, the owners of the top two horses in nine categories receive recognition and wonderful trophies in honor of the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) are eligible to be named the ASHA state pleasure horse champion in seven categories.
High point award winners are determined from the results of the May Classic Horse Show and the Kentucky State Championship Horse Show. Points are awarded to the first through fifth place finishers in high point classes. Amateur Owned and Trained (AOT) classes count toward high point awards, but if an AOT horse cross enters in another pleasure class, only AOT points count toward high point.
To be a High Point winner, the Owner(s) of the horse listed on the show entry sheet must be a KASPHA member. For Pleasure Equitation the rider must be a member since horses are not being judged. A KASPHA member who holds a seasonal lease on a horse which is owned by a non-member can be eligible for High Point awards if the lease is noted on the horse show entry sheet. This allowance is intended for riders who lease a horse and show that horse exclusively throughout the season. School horses ridden by multiple riders at KASPHA shows are not eligible for High Point Awards.
All horses that are eligible to accrue points and show at both the May Classic and Kentucky State Championship in the same category will be awarded one (1) bonus point towards High Point award in that category.
